Chesapeake Gateways Programmatic Partner Self-Nomination Instructions

In addition to places and experiences, the network includes Programmatic Partners—organizations whose programs, services, expertise, or initiatives advance the shared goals of the Chesapeake Gateways Network.

Defining Characteristics

Programmatic Partners help strengthen collaboration across the watershed by sharing knowledge, building partnerships, expanding access to Chesapeake stories and places, and supporting conservation, education, recreation, and stewardship.

Organizations may be considered for Programmatic Partner designation if they are a mission-driven non-profit, agency, institution, or Tribal entity serving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Alignment to the Chesapeake Gateways Network can take many forms including educational programming only available to organized groups, non-direct visitor services, land conservation and public access trusts, etc.

The designation is intended for organizations that contribute to the network's mission through their work, even if they do not manage a visitor destination. Designated organizations are eligible for a suite of benefits provided by the National Park Service, including financial and technical assistance.

Any organization may complete the Chesapeake Gateways Programmatic Partner Self-Nomination Questionnaire to be considered for inclusion in the Chesapeake Gateways Network.
