Today we got to meet one of the many faces of the Lewis and Clark NHT Headquarters Visitor Center! Ryan Kephart is a park guide here, which means that he is directly involved with the public. He works both on and off site, interpreting the story of the Corps of Discovery. That is not all he does--Ryan is a living history interpreter, portraying Captain Meriwether Lewis. He was drawn to the National Park Service by his belief that heritage, be it historical, cultural or geographical, should be preserved for future generations. That being said, he admires the cosmopolitan nature of the Corps of Discovery. The expedition was made up of people from different states all across the nation, foreigners and Americans, different races and ethnicities and was multilingual. Ryan thinks that without the diversity of the Corps of Discovery, as well as the diversity of the people it encountered, the expedition would not have survived.
Ryan was very helpful in showing us around the visitor center, as well as by teaching us quite a bit about Lewis and Clark’s journey. Thanks a lot!!!
