You know all those wonderful maps on the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail website? We got to meet the man responsible for them! Ryan Cooper is the Geographer for the Integrated Resource Stewardship Division. He coordinates the mapping of the trail, develops the interactive trail atlas, and creates online maps for visitors to both learn about the trail and plan their trips. He even builds Story Maps, which combine photographs, text and interactive maps to help visitors explore the landscape and Lewis and Clark story! He first joined the National Park Service right out of college and loves to work with a lot of different people with diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives and interests.
