Today, we got to meet one of the most important people in the office: Mark Weekley, the trail’s Superintendent! He works with other staff members, volunteers, partners, and friends--notably the many American Indian Tribes and Nations--along the trail in order to commemorate and protect the Lewis and Clark NHT and to make sure it is understood and enjoyed. He says that the people and the partners are his favorite part of the job! Mark has always enjoyed spending time outdoors and grew up going to national parks. With a twenty-five year career here, it seems that he is still living his passion!
After we spoke, Mark taught us about some of the animals Lewis and Clark came across on their journey!
