Today, Rocky got to meet someone with a very important job here at the Lewis and Clark NHT Headquarters: Linda Helm, the Environmental Protection Specialist. She ensures that all projects around the trail comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and told Rocky all about why he can’t dig holes on the trail or chew up any artifacts! She was drawn to the National Park Service by the mission of conservation and has been working for the Park Service for five and a half years.
Linda showed Rocky how to do a big part of her job. She told him that organizations will send her a proposal and then she looks up the coordinates to see how close the proposed project is to the trail. Here, Rocky is giving her a helping “paw.”
