Coulee Dam, WA -- On August 21, 2015, Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, a unit of the National Park Service, has closed all boat ramps and day-use areas in the Kettle Falls District except for the Kettle Falls Marina and boat ramp due to expanding wildfires. These closures will be concurrent with the campground closures instituted on August 20, 2015. Currently conditions hinder much containment on the wildfires in the surrounding area and forecasts expect accelerated fire growth. Weather forecasts are calling for high winds with dry conditions expect to contribute to high fire danger. As safe evacuation cannot be guaranteed, the park has instituted these closures to ensure the highest level of safety for visitors and employees.

Under the authority granted to the superintendent under 36 Code of Federal Regulations 1.5 (a)(1), campgrounds, boat ramps, and day-use areas are closed immediately and will remain so until conditions improve for visitor safety. These campgrounds, boat ramps, and day-use areas include: Na Bor Le, Hunters, Gifford, Cloverleaf, Daisy, Bradbury Beach, Colville Flats, Kettle Falls day-use areas, Marcus Island, North Gorge, China Bend, Snag Cove, Napoleon Bridge, Kettle River, Kamloops Island, Haag Cove, and French Rocks.
