The China Bend formation and climbing area are closed as of February 15 until July 15.
The closure area is behind posted signs and extends 100 yards out on NPS lands surrounding the base of the formation and includes all climbing routes, cliff face, ascent and descent routes, and climber's access trails to the formation. All of these areas are CLOSED to Recreational Use.
Each year, Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area may initiate temporary closures in areas of the park to ensure birds of prey (raptors) are undisturbed during their breeding and nesting seasons.
As breeding and nesting data are collected, additional closures may be necessary, or closures may be lifted.
