DAILY PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

“Alibates Quarries Tours” – Starting in April, tour the Alibates Flint Quarries and learn about Native Americans who once lived here. Please call (806) 857-6680 for reservations. The 2 mile hike is 2 hours with a 300 ft. elevation gain.
Meet at Alibates Visitor Center at 9:45. Tour time is at 10:00 a.m. Moderate level

SUNDAY 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. –
“Paleo Life” – Join a Ranger to learn about ancient peoples who lived on the Texas Plains 13,000 years ago. Learn about the Paleo-Indians culture, weapons, food, clothing, and family life.
Meet at Alibates Visitor Center. 1:00 p.m. 45 minutes.

MONDAY 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. –
“Why Alibates” -- Learn about some of the many reasons why Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument is a part of the National Park Service.
Meet at the Alibates Visitor Center Veranda. 30 minutes.

TUESDAY 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. –
“Rangers Choice” -- Topic’s range on the many interesting cultural and natural resources found in the park.
Meet in the Alibates Visitor Center Veranda at 11:00 p.m. 30 minutes.

WEDNESDAY 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. –
“Atla-atla” -- Learn how ancient Native Americans hunted in order to survive in the harsh landscape they called home.
Meet at Alibates Visitor Center 11:30 p.m. 1 hour.

THURSDAY 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. –
“Alibates Garden Tour” – Join a Ranger and tour the beautiful Alibates Gardens and learn about the native species and how Native Americans used them in their daily lives.
30 minutes.
Meet at Alibates Visitor Center.

FRIDAY 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. –
Mammals of the Texas Panhandle” – Join Park staff as we discuss how to identify certain mammals found in the Texas Panhandle by examining their skins and skulls. Specific adaptations found in animals will be discussed and what inherited traits are. You will learn about the food chain and predatory mammals vs. herbivores.
Meet at Alibates Visitor Veranda. 30 minutes.

SATURDAY 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. –
“Cowboy Days” -- Take a hike with a Ranger and journey back in time to the early ranching days of the Texas Panhandle. Walk on what was the LX ranch, where cowboys ruled the Texas Plains.
Meet at Alibates Visitors Center. 30 minutes.

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. –
“Atla-atla” -- Learn how ancient Native Americans hunted in order to survive in the harsh landscape of the Texas Panhandle.
Meet at Alibates Visitor Center 11:30 p.m. 1 hour.

1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. –
“The Ice Age” – Join us in the Alibates Theater as we discuss the people who arrived in this area 13,000 years ago and how they discovered and used Alibates Flint.
1:30 p.m. 1 hour.
Meet at Alibates Visitor Center.
