Lake Mead's Lifejacket Loaner Station Program is a vital initiative aimed at promoting safety and preventing drowning incidents on the water. The program provides free, easily accessible lifejackets at loaner stations located at nine of the busiest beaches and boat ramps around the park, ensuring that visitors can access properly fitting lifejackets for themselves and their families. These locations include:

  • Boulder Beach
  • Willow Beach
  • Cottonwood Cove
  • Katherine's Landing

With the understanding that many people may not have their own lifejackets, the program offers an essential resource, especially for children and non-swimmers. Participants should return the lifejackets after use, helping to maintain the availability of this crucial safety equipment for future visitors. The program not only enhances safety but also raises awareness about the importance of wearing lifejackets while engaging in water activities.

For a safe visit:

  • Choose life jakcets that are the right size. Jackets should be snug but not tight.
  • Fasten all buckles, zippers, and straps.
  • Supervise children at all times.
  • Leave pool toys and inflatables at home. Wind and waves can quickly move them out of safe reach. Pool toys and inflatables should not be substituted for lifejackets, as they do not provide the same level of safety.
