Group Projects

Group Projects

Teamwork, Nature, Impact.

Are you a business, school or church group, scout, or nonprofit organization wanting to give back to the community? We can collaborate with you to develop a service project that will achieve your needs and benefit the park. Service projects vary depending on the time of year, age of the participants, special skills, and group size (most projects are designed for 10 to 50 people). Projects are best suited during the months of October through April; however, some projects might be available in the summer.Past projects have included:

  • Litter cleanup
  • Trail cleanup
  • Invasive weed removal
  • Native seed collection
  • Native seed cleaning
  • Campground beautification

Our event schedule fills up quickly, so contact us as soon as possible to secure your date! We prefer a minimum of at least one month in advance notice. We ask to please be ready to discuss the following information:

  • Name of Group
  • Group Type (i.e., church group, non-profit, corporate)
  • Mailing Address
  • Email
  • Phone Number
  • Proposed date of project, and an alternate date
  • General project location (if you have one mind)
  • Number of people you want to bring
  • Educational component, if desired

Youth Groups

If you’re a teacher or leader of a youth group looking to coordinate a service project with us, we are well equipped to create an educational component to add to your service project. We can coordinate educational presentations and activities for your group before or after the project. Educational components can vary depending on age and skill level of your group. The opportunities to learn through these projects are endless!

Additionally, Scouts can earn Scout Ranger certificates and/or patches for participating in projects like joining a park ranger on a nature walk or helping out a park by removing invasive plants to protect the native species.

The Scout Ranger program is designed to spark curiosity and interest in conserving our natural and cultural resources, increase Scout visitation to national park sites, promote environmental science and conservation career exploration, and empower Scouts to protect our national park sites through volunteer service.

To discuss and schedule your next group project, send us an email so we can begin the process.

Do you have a small group of 6-8 people? You may want to consider spending a morning aboard the Operation Zero pontoon boat, removing litter from the shoreline. Visit the Operation Zero webpage for more information.
