The Adopt-A-Spot program, modeled after the Adopt-A-Highway initiative, was started in 2009 as a way for passionate park goers to give back to the lake through adopting a cove. Over time, the program has evolved to allow volunteers to adopt any area of the park including trails, parking lots, picnic areas, and beaches! Keeping the park trash free helps improve human health and safety, wildlife habitat, and the beautiful scenery at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Individuals and groups of up to 20 are welcome to adopt a spot. The only requirement is that you commit to cleaning your area a minimum of four times a year and attend the initial two-hour training that teaches you about the program, safety, and program rules. Volunteers spend a minimum of 15 to 20 hours a year participating in the program, but you and your group get to choose just how much you want to do!

The Adopt-A-Spot program is perfect for individuals and groups that want to give back to the park on their own time. If you're interested in joining the program, send us an email!
