Contact: Tom Baker, Management Assistant, (906) 483-3016 The National Park Service at Keweenaw National Historical Park is hosting a public meeting related to planning for enhanced development at Italian Hall Park in Calumet. The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking funding to expand the interpretation at the park in time for the 2013 centennial commemoration of the 1913 strike and the Italian Hall tragedy. The NPS is also starting to plan for other potential enhancements at the park, to be accomplished in the longer term. The meeting will be facilitated by Marcella Wells, who facilitated similar public meetings related to the development of exhibits for the Calumet Visitor Center at the Union Building. If you have an interest in the interpretive story and/or design of Italian Hall Park, you are invited to participate in this public meeting. Space is limited; please call early for reservations. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Calumet, at the NPS headquarters building at the intersection of US Higway 41 and Red Jacket Road. Please RSVP to the NPS at 337-3168, no later than October 18. |
