Contact: Kathleen Harter, (906) 337-3168 Experience first-hand what Copper Country life was like 100 years ago at Old Victoria in Ontonagon County. Join us at 5:30 p.m. for a pre-program hiking tour through the Victoria mine site and the privately owned captain’s house. At 7:00 p.m., hear the stories of the people who lived at Old Victoria, complete with a special tour of the cabins and a treat baked in the wood stove. Please feel free to attend either or both parts of the program. This special, two-part event will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009. The tour will begin at the restoration site parking lot near the cabins at 5:30 p.m. The terrain is easy and well-suited to walking, but be sure to wear sturdy footwear. The talk will begin at 7:00 p.m., also at the cabins near the parking lot. The Old Victoria Restoration Site is located along Victoria Dam Road, Rockland, Michigan, and please note that parking is limited.
