Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail Map
Rosalynn Carter's aspiration was to create a butterfly garden on her Plains, Georgia property, with the aim of promoting butterfly and habitat conservation. In April 2013, Annette Wise, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Education, established The Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail. This initiative was born out of Mrs. Carter's concern for the diminishing monarch butterfly population and her desire to raise public awareness. To support this mission, a comprehensive review of the state's science and social studies curricula was conducted, with connections identified for different grade levels. A strategic plan was devised to encourage the development of public, private, and school gardens.
