Barataria Preserve

  • Programs and Tours

    • For programs located at the visitor center, there are accessible bathrooms available.
    • Programs that go on trails or waterways do not have restroom access.
    • For walking tours, there may be uneven boardwalk planks and a long duration of walking.
    • For canoe trek programs, visitors will be getting in and out of canoes.
  • Visitor Center

    • The accessible entrance is located in front of the building from the parking lot.
    • Accessible parking is located in the visitor center parking lot.
    • The men's and women's bathrooms each have one accessible stall. There is one family bathroom.
    • Accessible water fountains are located outside the restrooms.
  • Education Center

    • The accessible entrance is located in front of the building.
    • The men's and women's bathrooms each have one accessible stall.
    • Accessible water fountains are available near the restrooms.
    • There is a mini ampitheatre. There is a ramp that goes down to different seating levels.
  • Picnicking

    • Accessible picnic tables are located throughout the area next to the parking lot.
    • Accessible parking is available in the parking lot.
    • The terrain is dirt and gravel from the parking lot to the picnic tables.
  • Trails

    • Please note: boardwalk trails may be slippery when wet.
    • Visitor Center Trail: Boardwalk, .25 miles one way, negligible grade
    • Palmetto Trail - Boardwalk, .9 miles one way, negligible grade

    • Bayou Coqyuille Trail: Boardwalk and packed grave, .5 miles one way, negligible grade

    • Marsh Overlook Trail: Boardwalk with stairs and bridges over waterways, .4 miles one way, negligible grade.

    • Twin Canals Trail: Dirt, .6 miles one way, negligible grade.

    • Old Barataria Road Trail: Dirt, 1.4 miles roundtrip, negligible grade.

    • Woodduck Trail: Dirt, .4 miles one way, negligible grade.

    • Plantation Trail: Loop A – Dirt, 1.8 miles roadtrip, negligible grade; Loop B -- Dirt, 1.4 miles roundtrip, negligible grade.

    • Christmas Road Trail: Gravel, .2 miles one way, negligible grade.

    • Ring Levee Trail: Boardwalk and gravel, .6 miles one way, negligible grade.

Chalmette Battlefield

  • Programs and Tours

    • Accessible restrooms are available at the visitor center.
  • Visitor Center

    • The accessible entrance is located at the front door of the visitor center.
    • The accessible parking is located in the front of the parking lot.
    • The men's and women's restrooms each have one accessible stall.
    • Accessible water fountains are located outside the restrooms.
  • Picnicking

    • There are three accessible tables. The tables are located on grass underneath the oak trees by the restrooms. Accessible parking is available in the visitor center parking lot.

French Quarter Visitor Center

  • Programs and Tours

    • During ranger programs, public restrooms are available in the courtyard. There is one accessible stall in each restroom.
  • Visitor Center

    • There are two accessible entrances to the visitor center. One entrance is located right off Decatur Street and it has automatic doors. Another is down the carriage way into the courtyard. There is a button for the automatic door.
    • There is no parking provided by the park. There are paid lots nearby and street parking.
    • Public restrooms in the courtyard have an accessible stall in each bathroom.
    • Accessible water fountains are located in the entryway to the courtyard restrooms.
  • Picnicking

    • Although there is no pincic areas at this visitor center, there are benches in the courtyard.

Acadian Cultural Center

  • Programs and Tours

    • For programs, public restrooms are available in the lobby. There is one accessible stall in both the men's and women's restrooms. There is one family bathroom, which is accessible.
  • Visitor Center

    • The accessible entrance is the main entrance in the front of the building.
    • The first two parking spots are accessible.
    • Accessible water fountains are available in the lobby near the restrooms.
    • A wheelchair is available for use upon request at the front desk.
  • Picnicking

    • One picnic table is accessible. The table is lcoated near the accessible parking spaces.

Prairie Acadian Cultural Center

  • Programs and Tours

    • The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is currently closed. However, programming is offered off-site. Check our Current Conditions page for more information and updates.
    • For select programs, public restrooms are available near the lobby. The men's and women's restroom each have one accessible stall.
    • Certain programs may have walking distances, such as a walking tour of downtown Eunice. For more information on our tours, see our Calendar.
  • Visitor Center

    • The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is currently closed. However, programming is offered off-site. Check our Current Conditions page for more information and updates.
    • The accessible entrance is the main entrance to the building.
    • Two accessible parking spots are located on the side of the building in the parking lot.
    • There are accessible water fountains in the lobby.
    • The museum exhibits are accessible.

Wetland Acadian Cultural Center

  • Programs and Tours

    • For programs located at the visitor center, there are accessible bathrooms available in the lobby.
    • For walking tours, there may be uneven terrain.
    • For boat tour programs, visitors will be getting in and out of the boat. The boat is not wheelchair accessible. For boat tours to the E.D. White Historic Site, restrooms are available during the stop at the E.D. White Historic Site.

    • The accessible entrance is located in front of the building from the parking lot.
    • Three accessible parking spaces are located in the visitor center parking lot.
    • The men's and women's bathrooms each have one accessible stall.
    • Accessible waterfountains are located outside the restrooms.
  • Trails

    • One concrete trail begins at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center parking lot and ends in downtown Thibodaux, LA. The terrain is relatively flat with negligible grade.
