James A. Garfield National Historic Site Announces Summer Hours Beginning May 1

        The National Park Service staff of James A. Garfield National Historic Site is pleased to announce the site’s hours for the upcoming summer season.  The site’s summer season runs annually May 1-October 31.   

            As of Sunday, May 1, 2022, and continuing through Monday, October 31, 2022, the site will be open seven days per week from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 

            The site will also be open on the following federal holidays during the summer season: Memorial Day (Monday, May 30); Juneteenth (Monday, June 20); the Fourth of July (Monday, July 4); Labor Day (Monday, September 5); and Columbus Day (Monday, October 10).    

            The site continues on its current winter schedule (open Friday-Saturday-Sunday only, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.) through Saturday, April 30, 2022. 

            “We’re very excited for the summer season this year,” said Todd Arrington, Site Manager of James A. Garfield National Historic Site.  “We have many great special events planned this summer, and we invite everyone to visit us to learn more about President Garfield and the important role of national parks in American life.”

James A. Garfield National Historic Site is located at 8095 Mentor Avenue (U.S. 20) in Mentor, Ohio, approximately 25 miles east of Cleveland.  The site offers guided tours of the Garfield home, museum exhibits, and an introductory film.  The National Park Service completely restored the house in the late 1990s, making it one of the most impressive presidential homes preserved for the public.  For information call (440) 255-8722, write 8095 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, OH 44060, or visit www.nps.gov/jaga.
