Honoring Our Veterans Hike at the National Park

Date: November 7, 2022

In honor of our veterans, join a ranger the day after Veterans Day on Saturday, November 12 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for a short meander through the woods on a paved trail at the Calumet Dunes trail. No reservation is required, and non-veterans are welcome.    

Meet at the Calumet Dunes Trail parking lot located on 300E (Kemil Road), just off of U.S. Highway 12 near Beverly Shores. This is the former site of the visitor center and the current home of the USGS Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station. The national park began charging an entrance fee starting on March 31, 2022. The fee is $25 per car for a 1–7-day pass. A $45 annual pass for the Indiana Dunes National Park is also available. Holders of the following federal passes will not pay an entrance fee: Annual, Senior, Veterans/Military/Gold Star Family, 4th Grade, Access (disability), and the Volunteer Passes.
