The National Park Service is accepting applications for its Artist-in-Residence program at Indiana Dunes National Park. The program, now in its 28th year, offers artists the opportunity to live and work in the park for a two-week residency, providing them with a unique environment for inspiration and creativity. All applications must be postmarked by March 1 and received by March 8, 2024.
Art has been part of the history of national parks since the 1870s when Hudson River School painters captured majestic Western landscapes. Indiana Dunes National Park plays a role in the rich heritage of artists painting national parks. From renowned landscape painters capturing the park's stunning vistas to contemporary artists interpreting the park's natural and cultural significance, Indiana Dunes continues to be a source of inspiration for artists.
Selected artist will be provided with accommodations. During their residency, artists will have the opportunity to interact with park visitors, engage with the local community, and share their work through future public programs and events.
The deadline for submissions is March 8, 2024. Artists interested in applying for the program can find the application and more information at the Indiana Dunes National Park's Artist-in-Residence Program webpage.
