Children, ages 7 – 11, are invited to register for a week-long "Art in the Park Camp" that takes place July 8-12 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Indiana Dunes National Park’s Paul H Douglas Center. Registration is required and the class size is limited to 15 children.
This camp is taught by professional artists and teachers and includes a morning painting session and an afternoon craft session. Friday afternoon features a guest speaker and special activity. A light snack and drink will be provided, however, families should include a sack lunch for their child. There is a fee of $10.00 for the week to cover materials and snacks. The Douglas Center welcomes adults, youth, and families of all backgrounds. The center, filled with family-friendly exhibits and an accessible wetland boardwalk is open every day in the summer from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The center is located in the western portion of the national park at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller section of Gary.
