[NOTE:
This August, 2007 version of the Informal Visitor
Contacts
rubric supercedes all earlier versions]
An
assessment rubric is the "yard stick" used
to measure the success of certain interpretive
elements of a particular interpretive
product. Peer review certifiers use the following
rubric to assess the success of the visitor
contact logs that are submitted for this competency
-- whether the submission "demonstrates certification"
or is "approaching certification" standards.
Demonstrates certification standards
The description and analysis of visitor contacts
in these log entries demonstrate an understanding
of…
When and why to provide
basic orientation/information, in-depth orientation/information,
and/or move toward interpretation;
AND
How to facilitate opportunities
for visitors to form their own intellectual and/or
emotional connections to resource meanings and significance
in interpretive encounters.
Approaching
certification standards
The description and analysis of visitor
contacts in these log entries do not fully demonstrate
an understanding of…
When and why to
provide basic orientation/information, in-depth orientation/information,
and/or move toward interpretation;
OR
How to facilitate opportunities
for visitors to form their own intellectual and/or
emotional connections to resource meanings and significance
in interpretive encounters.
