2017 Tallgass Fiddle Festival
The date for the annual Tallgrass Prairie Fiddle Festival and Acoustic Band Contest has been set for Saturday May 27, 2017, starting at 12:00 noon. With a free fiddle and harmonic workshop in the morning, a luthier on-site, jam sessions erupting throughout the day, and over $3,000 in award monies, it is sure to be an event you will want to get on your calendar. The Tallgrass Prairie Fiddle Festival and Acoustic Band Contest is the place to be for musicians and music enthusiast of all ages. The event will be free of charge and held at the Homestead Education Center.

Youth Conservation Corps Applications
Homestead National Monument of America is now accepting applications for the summer 2017 Youth Conservation Corps (YCC). The YCC is a summer employment program for young men and women, ages 15-18, who work and learn together on projects that further the development and conservation of the natural and cultural resources of the United States.

For the first time, Homestead Land Entry Case Files from the National Archives for Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, Nevada, and Ohio have been digitized and are available online.

Nebraska 150 Film Festival
Celebrate the State of Nebraska during its 150th sesquicentennial year! To kick off this momentous year of events, Homestead National Monument of America invites you to join us for the Nebraska 150 Film Festival featuring nine movies that honor Nebraska’s heritage and highlight individuals that have helped Nebraska grow to what it is today. Films will show every Saturday and Sunday of January, February and the first weekend of March at 2:00 p.m. at the Homestead Education Center.

Hours Changing at Homestead National Monument of America
Fall, winter, and spring operating hours will begin at Homestead National Monument of America, starting on Tuesday September 6, 2016, the monument will be open daily Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Along with the changing winter hours, the monument will offer a wide variety of upcoming daily programs.

Prepare for Totality at Homestead National Monument of America
Homestead National Monument of America will be the perfect venue for the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse. At Homestead totality is expected to last 2 minutes 37 seconds. To learn more about the 2017 solar eclipse, Homestead National Monument of America will be hosting a special presentation by solar eclipse expert and enthusiast Derryl Barr. The program will take place at the Homestead Education Center on August 25, 2016 starting at 1 p.m.
