You are invited to a FREE concert by Jack Gladstone at Homestead National Monument of America's Education Center on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 2 p.m.Gladstone's musicillustrates Western Americana through a fusion of lyric poetry, music, and spoken word narrative. Heclaims both Native American and European immigrant ancestry and his music honors both traditions. Gladstone describes himself this way, "I am a Storysmith, forging ancient, historical, and contemporary narratives into accessible lyrical art. My work promotes the collaborative revitalization of 'kinship centered' traditions. The Spirit of our American heritage, both native and immigrant, compels me to compose and perform my original work. As the child of a Blackfeet Indian father and German-American mother, my work recognizes a shared responsibility towards our natural and historical landscapes. I am convinced that my most important work isto inspire the deepest possible connection to the reciprocal web of relationships within creation. The realization of this connection and formation of our response to it, will determine the essence of our future."
