  • They can sense predators from a long distance by standing on hind legs

  • Stay mostly hidden during the day but come out at night to eat

  • Hunted by hawks, owls, and foxes – uses its speed to stay safe, sometimes hopping up to 18 miles an hour!

  • Will zig and zag through prairie to avoid being caught by predators

  • Named for their cotton-ball-like tails
