FDR's Room

A bedroom with bay window.
NPS Photo

From the windows of this room, FDR enjoyed a broad view of the Hudson River, as captured in the framed watercolor by Julius Delbos that hangs beside the president's bed. FDR typically spent the early part of each morning at Springwood in this room, first reading the daily papers, and later working on presidential business alone or with one of his secretaries. The chair near the president's dressing table was known as Fala's chair. A telephone next to the bed provided direct access to the White House switchboard operator.
