Beginning this Veterans Day, November 11, 2006, U.S. veterans, members of the U.S. armed forces, and their families will be admitted free-of-charge each Veterans Day to Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum. Entrance fees to other national park areas and public lands managed by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture will also be waived on Veterans Day. This annual fee-free day will be in addition to National Public Lands Day, another fee-free day held annually in September. The Veterans Day waiver will always apply to November 11, regardless of the day of the week. “We’re pleased to be able to honor our veterans, servicemen and servicewomen, and their families with free admission to the site on Veterans Day,” said National Historic Site superintendent Cheryl A. Schreier. Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum are off I-80 at exit 254 in West Branch, Iowa. Both are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. |
