WEST BRANCH, IOWA— A new audio tour at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site gives visitors another alternative for exploring the birthplace, gravesite, and other features of the park commemorating the 31st president.

Visitors may access the new audio tour from their personal cell phones as they tour the park by calling (888) 244-4178. There is no charge to use the new audio tour other than the cost of minutes charged by customers’ telephone service providers. Visitors may get a menu of tour stops from the front desk at the Visitor Center. The new audio tour is also available on portable, hand-held listening wands. Visitors may borrow the listening wands along with headsets, hearing aid adapters, and texts from the tour script at no charge from the Visitor Center daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The menu of tour stops will be included with the park map and guide in a box outside the front door of the Visitor Center after hours.

The new audio tour will replace the audio stations now found at several locations around the park. “The new audio tour improves the accessibility of the Herbert Hoover story to visitors with disabilities. It also allows users to control the delivery of the tour content from devices they are familiar with, such as personal cell phones,” said park superintendent Cheryl A. Schreier.

Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library & Museum are in West Branch, Iowa at exit 254 off I-80. Both are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. Parking is limited so please allow extra time to find a parking space.
