Bright Star Touring Theatre Returns for 2019 with "Heroes of the Underground Railroad"

West Branch, Iowa— Back for a fourth year in 2019, Bright Star Touring Theatre will educate area third, fourth, and fifth graders about the history of the Underground Railroad. Shows are weekdays at Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum from March 5 through 15. Performances are at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Additional performances are scheduled for 1 p.m. on March 7 and 8.  

In Heroes of the Underground Railroad, students join Harriet Tubman, Levi Coffin, Henry “Box” Brown, John Parker, and more in an empowering look at the figures behind America’s Underground Railroad. From the secret signs along routes to the abolitionist movement, this play leaves few stones unturned.

Classes are invited to attend at no cost. Due to limited seating, teachers must make reservations for their class, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
