WEST BRANCH, IOWA— Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the West Branch Fire Department will host their first joint community blood drive on Tuesday, July 16 from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the West Branch Fire Station, 105 South Second Street in West Branch, Iowa. To schedule an appointment, contact Kristin Gibbs at 319-643-7866 or kristin_gibbs@nps.gov. Walk-ins are welcome. Questions regarding donation eligibility can be directed to the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC) at 1-800-747-5401.

"I am extremely proud of the West Branch community for having such loyal and dedicated donors," said Sarah Oldag, Donor Relations Consultant for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. "We are now in West Branch six times per year, which means we're in town each time donors are eligible to donate. We truly appreciate your town's dedication to saving lives in your local hospitals by donating with MVRBC." The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to 81 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin

The partnership between the historic site and the fire department is in recognition of this year's Hoover's Hometown Days theme, "Herbert Hoover: Master of Emergencies." On August 3, celebrate the life of Herbert Hoover, 31st President of the United States, in his hometown of West Branch, Iowa. Hoover's Hometown Days, an annual festival, continues its family-friendly tradition of entertainment, children's activities, a parade, food, and a showcase of Iowa heritage.
