Conference Celebrating Iowa at Hoover Presidential Museum

West Branch, Iowa - On Saturday, October 24 th at 1:30 PM , the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library & Museum will host the conference Celebrating Iowa! Great Stories from across the Hawkeye State. This event will bring together four eminent Iowa storytellers for a panel discussion of what makes our state unique - its people, its history, and its stories.

Among the presenters, there are decades of Iowa travel, history, and living - many stories to be told, each from the vantage point of someone deeply interested in Iowa. The participants in the panel include:

  • one of Iowa 's eminent historians - Dorothy Schwieder, University Professor Emerita of History at Iowa State University
  • the erstwhile 'Iowa Traveler' - Cary J. Hahn, currently news director for 1450 KMRY Radio in Cedar Rapids
  • Nieman Award winning journalist for the Des Moines Register - John Carlson, his columns cover all aspects of Iowa life
  • the long-time host of Living in Iowa - Morgan Halgren, on Iowa Public Television.

Veteran radio host Roy Justis will serve as moderator.

The conference is being held in conjunction with the Herbert Hoover Museum exhibit, Iowa A - Z. This exhibit highlights our state's impressive features and reviews Iowa 's history, land, weather, animals, people and places of interest.
