WEST BRANCH, IOWA—The 2016 Artist-in-Residence (AIR) for Herbert Hoover National Historic Site is photographer and videographer Patricia McInroy. She will be in residence August 2nd through August 27th, 2016, taking photos and composing videos for the site. During her time here she will also be available to the public to answer questions about her work and techniques. "I'm excited to explore the open horizons of this part of Iowa while also delving into its rich history. My plan is to do this via video for the shifting moments and through photography for the more decisive moments," says McInroy.

On Saturday, August 13th at 10:00am, McInroy will give a public 45 minute presentation and workshop on time lapse photography at the Visitor Center. Afterwards, she will take interested participants out into the field to practice what they learned in the workshop. There will be an opportunity to go over the images taken and discuss editing processes following the photo shoot. Those planning to attend should bring a digital camera of any kind (cell phones, Go Pro, etc. are all acceptable as long as they can be stabilized), a tripod, and comfortable clothes. There will be minimal walking. No registration is necessary.

A former photojournalist, McInroy has screened her video work in more than 20 film festivals across the United States as well as in Europe and Latin America. In addition, her work has appeared at art galleries in Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Denver, Albuquerque and Hartford. Holding an MFA in Visual Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts, she currently teaches at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.

Last year the National Park Service launched its "Find Your Park" campaign which began a two year celebration commemorating its first 100 years of preservation and service to the public. "Find Your Park" is aimed at getting people out to experience all their national parks have to offer and to share their favorite stories about National Parks.
