On Saturday, July 19, writer Will Anderson will present a public program about his writing. The program starts at 1:00 p.m. at the Visitor Center and is free. Will Anderson is an award-winning radio dramatist, with regional and national awards, including two National Audio Theater Festival awards in 2007 and 2003, and the 2006 National Broadcasting Society Region 2 Best Comedy Award. Because Herbert Hoover's presidency came during the Golden Age of radio drama, Dr. Anderson states, "I am beyond excited by this opportunity to craft a unique and original radio drama script that will attempt to capture this exciting time in American history to share with the National Historical Site's visitors." Also on Saturday, July 19 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., living history interpreters will demonstrate games from life in 19th century West Branch. Demonstrations take place near the Herbert Hoover Birthplace Cottage. Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum are in West Branch, Iowa at exit 254 of I-80. Both are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. Parking is limited so please allow extra time to find a parking space. |
