West Branch, Iowa— Herbert Hoover National Historic Site is pleased to announce photographer Jim Schlett as the 2019 Artist-in-Residence. Mr. Schlett will be in residence this August, and will present a public program during that time. The Artist-in-Residence Program promotes creative means of communicating the park's national significance and its relevance to park visitors.

Jim Schlett's interest in photography began with a graduation gift of a Polaroid camera from grade school in New Jersey. Mr. Schlett has a great love of travel. His photographs include many images of our national parks, cityscapes, and nature in nearly all fifty states. Since 2016, he completed residencies at five national parks, Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity in California, Catoctin Mountain in Maryland, Manassas in Virginia, Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, and Homestead in Nebraska.
