Yellowstone National Park

After Yellowstone National Park opened its gates to automobiles in 1915, the park's transportation company quickly switched from horse-drawn stages to bright yellow touring cars. Touring and car camping grew rapidly in popularity as roads were improved, bridges rebuilt, and campgrounds and cabin camps developed for the growing number of visitors who wanted to enjoy the park on their own without staying in expensive hotels. Touring Yellowstone by automobile became a classic American vacation.
