Rocky Mountain National Park

Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park contains the highest roads in the national park system. The main cross-park route, Trail Ridge Road, is the highest continuous motorway in the United States, reaching an elevation of 12,183 feet. Besides offering dramatic mountain views and the experience of driving through alpine tundra, park roads provide attractive scenes of lowland meadows, beaver ponds, aspen groves, subalpine forests, and swift-flowing mountain streams.
