Hawai`i Volcanoes NEWS RELEASE Release Date: September 1, 2006 Contact: Mardie Lane 808-985-6018 Superintendent Cindy Orlando today issued an advisory recommending park staff and visitors use bottled water for drinking purposes until further notice. The park was notified by the State Department of Health that the results of a water sample taken in early August were inconclusive for contaminants. "Although the test results were inconclusive, we would rather err on the side of caution and take all measures to protect our staff and visitors," said Orlando. The park is following recommendations of the National Park Service's Public Health Office and the State Department of Health, including taking new samples at various locations. Results from those tests should be available late next week. |
