Church Creek, Md. – On April 1, the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park will present the program “Ranger Lawson’s Book Review: On Freedom Road.” The free educational program will be held at Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park, 4068 Golden Hill Road in Church Creek, Md., 21622, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration is not required; however, the multipurpose room has limited seating with a maximum occupancy of 45 people.
Superintendent Deanna Mitchell of Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park said, “This book review will be a great way to kick of the spring season and inspire others to visit the park, as well as experience the various sites along the Harriet Tubman Byway.”
This in-person program will be a discussion style review with climate scientist and author David Goodrich, about his book entitled, On Freedom Road: Bicycle Explorations and Reckonings on the Underground Railroad. Over the course of four years, David Goodrich rode his bicycle 3,000 miles east of the Mississippi to travel the routes of the Underground Railroad and delve into the history and stories in the places where they happened. The book review will mainly focus on the places of historical importance along the Harriet Tubman Byway as explored by David Goodrich.
