Holidays at Hampton

This year’s event will explore the sounds of the season and how music, songs, and storytelling shaped the holiday traditions of all those who lived and worked at Hampton from 1783 through 1948.

Schedule

Visitor Center and Gift Shop
9:00 a.m.—8:00 p.m. Visitor Center is open for holiday shopping and visitor information.


Mansion Open House
Explore the mansion at your own pace during our day and evening open house events.

Park rangers and volunteers will share the stories of the Hampton mansion, the people who lived and worked here. Throughout the day we will feature musical performances by ConneXions Academy choir and 42nd Street Singers highlighting songs of the festive season! There will also be African American Storytelling and Music with Griots' Circle of Maryland, Inc and free 19th-century silhouettes thanks to Silhouettes by Hand (first come, first served)

  • Come to the Mansion to earn a Junior Ranger badge!
  • 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (last entry)
    • 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. The Griots' Circle of Maryland two storytelling sessions
    • 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Music by ConneXions Academy
    • 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Carrolling by 42nd Street Singers

Orangery Activities

  • 2 to 4 p.m. Silhouettes by Hand — Visitors will need to see the silhouette artist upon arrival at the event to obtain a free timed ticket to have their silhouette created. Tickets are limited!
  • Enjoy cider and cookies provided by our friends from Historic Hampton Inc. While supplies last!
 

Parking

Parking is free. Limited parking is available at Hampton National Historic Site. A free shuttle service is available for the event from 10:00 a.m. — 8:30 p.m. from the parking lot at Towson United Methodist Church (501 Hampton Lane) to Hampton NHS. The shuttle will stop at the mansion and the church parking lot.

Accessibility

Mansion ADA Lift is currently not functional awaiting a replacement, physical accessibility to the mansion will be limited to those with the ability to climb 3-4 steps into the first floor. We apologize for any inconvenience. The free shuttle service is NOT accessible with chair lifts. However, ADA accessible parking will be available at the mansion upper lot.
