NPS Photo Hampton National Historic Site is a "no drone zone". Launching, landing, or operating an uncrewed or remotely piloted aircraft from or on lands and waters administered by the National Park Service within the boundaries of Hampton National Historic Site is prohibited except as approved in writing by the superintendent. “Uncrewed aircraft” is defined as a device that is used or intended to be used for flight in the air without the possibility of direct human intervention from within or on the device. This term includes all types of devices that meet this definition (e.g., model airplanes, quadcopters, drones) that are used for any purpose, including for recreation or commerce. While the National Park Service supports a variety of recreational activities, serious concerns have been raised about drones and their impact to the visitor experience and the safety of visitors, staff, and park resources. The authority to prohibit drones in national parks is granted under 36 CFR 1.5 (closures and public use limits). |
