Option 1: The Tour Road

Explore the perimeter of the battlefield on foot along the 2.25 mile loop Tour Road with eight tour stops and access into the interior walking trails. This is a paved road. You will read wayside exhibits and see monuments. You should walk on the left side of the road for your safety, as bikes and cars use the right side and drive one way. The pedestrian side is marked on the road.
The Tour Road is the red line on the map. The Tour Road has 7 dog waste containers, with dog waste bags, spaced along the route.

Option 2: Historic New Garden Road

The Historic New Garden Road was once a colonial era highway that connected to the Great Salisbury Wagon Road and hosted thousands of colonists as they migrated from Pennsylvania. During the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, the American and British Artillery dragged the cannons along the road. This is an uneven gravel path that takes you along the sloped terrain, following the footsteps of the British soldiers as they encountered each American Line. You can listen to the OnCell Tour offering a recorded Park Ranger tour and waysides. You will see more monuments on this route.
The Historic New Garden Road is the white line with dots on the map.
The Historic New Garden Road does not have waste containers for dog poop. You must carry your poop bag to the containers. Leaving dog bags on the trail is littering, comes with a monetary fine, and a health hazard!

Option 3: The Interior Trails

The interior trails are accessible from the Tour Road and the Historic New Garden Road. Along these trails you will wind through the battlefield and in the footsteps of the American and British soldiers. There are many monuments in the interior, and more importantly you will get a feel for the terrain that these soldiers fought on. The battlefield was forested during the battle. You can walk for 2 or more miles along these trails. The Interior Trails are the dots on the map.No wheels are allowed on these trails, only feet! The interior trails do not have waste containers for dog poop. You must carry your poop bag to the containers. Leaving dog bags on the trail is littering, comes with a monetary fine, and a health hazard!
