Summer Explorers

June 18 - August 6, 2026

  • Thursdays for eight weeks
  • 10:00 am - 12:00 PM ages 5 - 15 years old (multiple activities will be offered each program to meet age and education levels of younger and older participants)

June 18 – Soar and See

Participants will explore how animals see the world and how they fly through a combination of science, art, and hands-on learning.

June 25 – Victorian Cuisine - You Butter Believe It!

Step back in time for a tasty adventure! Kids will learn about what people ate during the Victorian and Open Range Cattle days. Through hands-on learning, we’ll explore the foods that kept cowboys and settlers fueled on the trail.

July 2 – Dental Detectives

Become a tooth detective as we explore how the shapes and sizes of teeth influence the types of food that people and animals eat.

July 9 – Do You Know How To Get There?

Before GPS cowboys had to find their way across the open range using the sun, stars, landmarks, and natural clues. Explore how early cowboys navigated long cattle drives and learn simple navigation tricks through fun, hands-on activities.

July 16 – Made In Montana

Learn the unique history, culture, agriculture, and economy of Montana through some of the products produced in the Big Sky state.

July 23 – Surviving the Drive

Join us on a cowboy survival adventure. Through hands-on activities, learn the skills and tricks cowboys used to stay safe, find food, and handle challenges on the open range during cattle drives.

July 30 – Buzz, Flutter and Bloom

Investigate the many pollinators found on the ranch and discover the important role they play in ecosystems and human health.

August 6 – Are We There Yet?

It’s time to migrate! Explore how and why animals, from tiny insects to large mammals, migrate across long distances.
