Gila Cliff Dwellings Announces Change In Tour Schedule
Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument Superintendent Steve Riley announced today the seasonal change from two daily tours to one. Beginning on October 29, 2006 one guided tour of the cliff dwellings will be offered daily at 12:00 p.m. Please allow 20-30 minutes to hike to the first cave where the tour begins. Visitors are welcome to tour the dwellings on their own with a free handout that describes the trail.
The trail through Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including holidays. All visitors must exit the monument by 5:00 pm. There is a $3.00 per person entrance fee for the dwellings; children 15 years and younger are free. The Gila Visitor Center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1st).
