Is Youth Conservation Corps Right For Me?

YCC enrollees participating in the program.

What age do you have to be?
If you are 15-18 years old at the start of the program, this program is right for you.

When are programs conducted?
8-10 weeks during the summer programs depending upon the park.

Are there residential programs?
Most of the NPS YCC programs are non-residential; however the NPS does have two residential programs at Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks.

How much would I be paid?
Youth Conservation Corps members are paid the established federal minimum wage. However, in states with a minimum wage higher than the federal will be paid at the higher rate.

What benefits would I get from participating?
Not only would you get paid to work in some of the coolest places in the country, but will have the chance to learn about careers with the National Park Service and get valuable work skills that can help you get your next job! You will be working with other incredible people and hopefully you will build a lifetime bond. Do you like to hike, backpack, climb, kayak, bike, horseback ride, etc? Well, national parks are perfect for that!
