To celebrate students completing the brand new Saving the Past, Shaping the Future program, we will be hosting 3 options for a LIVE virtual Junior Ranger ceremony on Wednesday, June 9th at 9am, 11am, and 2pm. Park rangers from First State National Historical Park will be asking students questions about the activities they’ve completed, using Zoom's chat feature, before swearing them in as Junior Ranger Preservationists.

Teachers, we highly encourage classes to complete as many of the 8 activities as possible, but anyone who has completed at least one activity can participate in the June 9th virtual ceremonies. If you would like to attend one of the LIVE Junior Ranger ceremonies on June 9th, please email the following information to firststate@nps.gov:

  • Teacher’s Name, School, Grade Level

  • Number of students attending the virtual ceremony.
(Please indicate if all students will watch together from a classroom, or if each student will need to join from individual computers. We understand that different models of in-person, virtual, and hybrid learning are happening.)

  • Which time slot will your class attend? 9am, OR 11am, OR 2pm - you only need to attend one.

  • Optional: Share some student work with us! We would love to see examples of your students’ drawings, designs, exhibits, letters, and write-ups. Let us know if it is alright to showcase some of your students’ work in the virtual Junior Ranger ceremony.

  • Optional: Please let us know if any of your students need special accommodations.

We will email you back with instructions for joining the virtual ceremony. Due to platform limitations, we ask that you do not share the email with your login instructions with other teachers. Instead, please encourage them to send us an email to register for the ceremony they’d like to attend. Thank you for being a wonderful supporter of this preservation education program and for sharing Saving the Past, Shaping the Future with your students!

If you want to promote this program and junior ranger opportunity with your colleagues and homeschool groups, please direct them to the Teacher Landing Page for the full program overview. The Saving the Past, Shaping the Future activities are also accessible for students from the park website.
