New Concession Contract Awarded and Set to Begin for Fort Sumter on May 15
Fort Sumter National Monument officials announced that the new commercial services contract has been awarded to Fort Sumter Tours, Inc. The new contract 10- year contract will begin on May 15, 2017. Fort Sumter Tours, a family-run company, is the current park concessioner with years of operating experience at the park

The Arrowhead Band Comes to Charleston
Audiences of all ages are invited to come out on Sunday, May 28 at 11:00 am to the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center at Liberty Square, and at 2:00 pm to the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site for a special concert featuring the Arrowhead Band.

Fort Moultrie to Participate in Kids to Parks Day on May 20
Children and their families are invited to participate in fun, hands-on activities at Fort Moultrie on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10 am - 2 pm for the National Park Trust’s seventh annual Kids to Parks Day. Children will talk with soldiers and a civilian from the American Revolution and the Civil War to learn about what life was like during their times. Children may help to create a mural about our National Parks in a “chalk on the walk” activity. Learn about what you can find on Sullivan’s Island beach through an interactive display. Participating children will earn a special prize.

2016 Economic Benefits of Tourism to Fort Sumter National Monument and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site
A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 941,514 visitors to Fort Sumter National Monument and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site in 2016 spent $55,049,100 in communities near the park. That spending supported 834 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $69,419,700.
