If you've ever wondered what musical entertainment was like before the days of MTV, stereos and CD's, Fort Stanwix has the answer!

On Saturday afternoon and evening June 30th, Balladeer Linda Russell will be at Fort Stanwix National Monument to present a concert of 18th century music. Most often classified as folk music today, the music Ms. Russell will present would have been the tunes on the "Pop Charts" of the 1700's. The performances will encompass themes that are still popular subjects of current music, including war, social injustice and of course, love and having fun. In addition to singing, Ms. Russell will perform on reproductions of many popular 18th century instruments including guitar, penny whistle, and mountain dulcimer. Reflecting an era when everyone loved to sing, the public will be invited to join in on many of the tunes.

Ms. Russell will give informal performances on Saturday afternoon through 5:00.  The gates of the fort will then reopen at 6:30 pm and Ms. Russell will present a formal concert beginning at 7:00 pm on the fort's parade ground. The park has limited seating available, so visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.  In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the fort’s Gregg Barracks visitor contact building. This program offers enjoyment for people of all ages and is a wonderful opportunity for families to spend an evening of music and fun together.

Fort Stanwix National Monument is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Admission to the park is free. Activities are ongoing unless noted. For more information
