Rome, NY:Is your family looking for something fun to do outdoors on an afternoon during Spring Break? On Wednesday, April 21, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. grab a kite and join park staff on the west lawn of Fort Stanwix National Monument for an hour of outdoor fun at the next "School's Out at the Fort" program. "The goal of the program is to get families out into the fresh spring after being indoors for a long, cold winter, and make a difference in their health," says Park Ranger Valerie Morgan.
Do you need a kite? Families will also have the opportunity to make a kite at the park to fly in addition to learning the history of kites in the United States and from around the world. There is no registration for the program, and as with all of the programs offered at the park, it is free of charge. In the event of rain, the program will be cancelled.
Fort Stanwix National Monument is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission to the park is free. Activities are ongoing unless noted. For more information about upcoming events please call the park at (315)338-7730. Please visit the park’s web page at www.nps.gov/fostfor additional information about the park and up-to-date news about park events.
