So what does it feel like to stand next to a cannon as it fires? Here’s your chance to find out! Fort Stanwix National Monument is looking for highly dedicated volunteers, ages 16 and older, to assist staff in the park's weapons firing demonstrations. Throughout early spring, the park will be providing training to those who wish to become part of the volunteer black powder musket and cannon crews. All potential volunteers are welcome to join on one of the five (5) training dates listed below. The training day will consist of a classroom component where you will learn about history, safety, and more, and a practical component in which you will receive hands on experience using the weaponry. Feel free to observe and get an idea of what this unique volunteer opportunity is like, or even jump in and try it for yourself! All equipment required for training, safety, and clothing is provided free of charge during your service as a Fort Stanwix VIP (Volunteer-In-Park). Smell the smoke, feel the bang, and have a blast all while serving a national organization. Volunteering has never been so much fun! Musket Training
