The 2005 season at Fort Stanwix National Monument is shaping up to be another exciting year. The help and input of the volunteers of Fort Stanwix National Monument make it even better!
Interested in Early American trades like blacksmithing or spinning? Learn how the artisans of Fort Stanwix kept the fort standing during the American Revolution in this series of living history workshops. The June sessions of Artisans of Fort Stanwix begins Sunday, June 5th and continue each Sunday of the month. Meet at Fort Stanwix National Monument Visitor Center, located inside the fort. Sessions are held on Sundays from 2pm - 4pm. These training sessions are open to the public as well as all Fort Stanwix volunteers. All of these workshops are free.
The Artisan workshops are held on the following dates in June:
June 5 - Intro to trades, Indentured Servant Primer I
18th century textile history in North East America - spinning, knitting, sewing, embroidery, quilting
June 12 - 18th Century Carpentry and Coopering and Basket making in North East America
June 19 - Blacksmithing
June 26 - Indentured Servant Primer II -
18th Century Gardening and animal husbandry,
18th Century Cooking - "Making Do",
Suttlering in 18th century military fort
