During the month of February, Fort Stanwix National Monument will be presenting two special programs for history buffs and families in the area.

On Saturday, February 15, at 3 pm, park rangers will be presenting a special program about winter in the Continental Army during the Revolution. Visitors are invited to listen to stories of the fabled winter at Valley Forge and the forgotten winters at Morristown.

On Saturday, February 22, at 10 am, the park will celebrate George Washington’s birthday. Children of all ages are invited to hear tales of Washington’s childhood, as well as sing and dance in honor of the occasion.

“There’s still lots to do at the park, even during the winter,” said Park Ranger Kelly Roman, “And if you’re going to get out of the house to have fun, why not learn something new?”

The next park event is National Park Week, taking place from April 18 – 26, 2020. A full schedule of park events can be found on www.nps.gov/fost. All park events are free.

Fort Stanwix National Monument is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the park is free.
