Rome, NY – “Family Films at the Fort” returns on to Fort Stanwix National Monument on Friday, June 30. This event series takes place every Friday evening on the park lawn from June 30 through July 21. Films being shown this year include ones that were filmed in national parks and some that highlight the mission of the National Park Service through their stories. All movies begin at 8:45 p.m. and are free to attend.
The 2017 film line-up includes:
June 30, “Jurassic Park,” rated PG-13
July 7, “E.T. The Extraterrestrial,” rated PG
July 14, “Moana,” rated PG
July 21, “Wall-E,” rated G
“Everyone is invited to enjoy the time under the stars with the soft grass beneath their feet,” said Park Ranger Kelly Roman, “Some are classics and some are new. But I can’t wait to bring my family to see all of these movies.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring bug spray, blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks. Children can play on the park lawn. In the event of inclement weather (wind or rain), the films will be rescheduled. Rain dates include: July 1, July 8, or September 8. Announcements will be made as needed.
The next event happening at Fort Stanwix is the Independence Day celebration, taking place on Tuesday, June 4, from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. A full schedule of park events can be found on www.nps.gov/fost. All park events are free.
